Default New to me roll your own power

Took a road trip yesterday with Mrs Rusty and Rustyjr into the wilds of mid-North Saskatchewan to pick up a new to me gently used 30kw pto generator/alternator. The plan is to mate it to a nice little Kubota diesel from a sea-can reefer to stand as back up power when disaster strikes, whicH seems to be too often when you rely on power for your geothermal heat. A mostly uneventful trip thankfully, with the exception of seeing a pile of wildlife including a black bear scooting across the road from one forest wall to the other .

I will post up build progress once there is some.

That's a nice beastie.

I have a used Kubota diesel off a welding machine that needs a rebuild kit and bearings just waiting for something like this.

I ran across a little 3 cyl gas engine and trans out of a Geo Metro just before the Kubota and thought I'd use it for the same thing. Good find.

Not remembering for sure what size my Gen set is, I do know that I can run the shop, including compressor and welding machines and or lathes and mill.

It's on a skid with a quick hitch that I mount on the back of one of my SA tractors with a drop gear box for the RPM. I'm lazy I guess.
