Question for the welding machine experts here. Does this machine run on single phase 460 or 230?

Many of those old beasts will run (not maxed out!) off much smaller breakers. I still haven't gotten around to uprating the breaker for my Miller 340 AB/P I bought several years ago. It stick welds fine off a 50A breaker. (It lives in a shipping container so no fire risk even if it tried to commit suicide and the breaker wanted to help.) I managed to trip the breaker running .045" flux core off a suitcase feeder but it took a while...

Your manual or one close enough should be here:

Not at all.

I have the same welder, but called a "500"

I run it off a 40 amp breaker and can take it up to about 250 amps
for air arcing (granted I have to use 1/4" carbons, but it does work)

109 amps is for full output, and the reason for the high input number,
is because they put out way more than nameplate.

Hence mine is labelled "more correctly".

I already have a 60 amp, except the only reason to get this welder is to run the air arc. Like to be able to use 1/4" carbons at 250 amps.

The only problem I have, is when you set the stinger down, you
have to remove the carbon every time.

They are so thin, they break every time.

I don't know why the presenter has a "putt putt" sound going on.
