A friend call today to tell me about the "sale" on sockets at Lowe's, he said I would be very interested. So I get to Lowe's, and here is the sale.

#0338637 - 1/4" drive, 10 piece set from 5 mm to 14 mm - $5 ($14 normally)

#0338614 - 3/8" drive, 11 piece set from 1/4" to 7/8" - $8 ($24 normally)
#0338615 - 3/8" drive, 11 piece set from 8 mm to 19 mm - $8 ($24 normally)

these are pretty good prices, the sockets are of course made in Taiwan

So tell us Jack, how many sets of 1/4" drive SAE standard sockets do you have?

I refuse to answer, on the grounds it may tend to incriminate me.

Went to Lowe's with the intention of buying the deep and regular 3/8 drive metric sets, thinking about under $20 total.

KOBALT set,
Spotted a 3/8 drive 40 pc. set, MM with SAE (all 12 Pointed) and ratchet for $25.00
$5 more I just could not pass it up.
Item #338512

I really wanted the regular single 3/8 set because it was a 6 pointed set. I just got so much more with the $25 set.

The deep MM sockets are 10mm - 19mm (10) that is one less then the single set.
9mm - 19mm regular depth (11)

SAE deep 7/16 - 3/4" (6)
The SAE regular 5/16 - 7/8 (10) ( starting at 1/4" would have been nice).
The plug socket is the smaller 5/8.
The ratchet has a good fine feel but the head is on the thick side.

-------
There is a flyer that was in the case that leads me to believe if I register the set They will send me any sockets I may lose ("Sockets For Life"), I'll have to check that out

--

BTW, there is other cased sets on sale you have to look around.

I surely can understand that position regarding guns, but tools are something to brag about.

the only deep sockets for sale for $10, are 12 points, not my preferred socket choice, but I did by a set of fractional and metric.

unless you have a wife, who believes a screwdriver and a crescent wrench is all anyone needs, and all other tools are a waste of space and money.

Looks like they may have removed your 16mm socket and given you the 8mm.
My set starting at 9mm I have the 16mm , just no 8mm.

They don't always include a 16mm ( 0.06299 ) I guess you use a 5/8" in its place.

Some times you don't get an 11mm (0.433) or 13mm (0.5118)

side note,
Craftsman was notorious for leaving out tools in there sale sets. I ended up buying the missing ones from swapmeets.
I guess it was their way to make up the money if you had to buy the one off the shelf at full price.
