Default Small Skinner Knife

Didn't get any progress pics on this one, sorry about that.

I bought a new forging hammer right after Christmas and needed to break it in so I hammered out this little blade. Didn't have much intention of finishing it, but it kind of grew on me as I went and next thing I knew I was making a sheath and sharpening it. I didn't put a whole lot of effort into polishing it, I will probably carry it some this winter and put it through its paces.

The handle is natural linen micarta, the blade is from a leaf spring off a jeep. Sheath is 8-10oz tooling leather, hand stitched.

The hammer I bought is a Mustad brand turning hammer, has a round face and a flat face. The head is short and fat with fairly big striking surfaces for a 2.25 lb hammer. Handle is long and whiplike. It comes back up off the anvil faster than anything I've ever tried before. Puts you into a nice rhythm and doesn't wear your arm out as much. I have always favored heavier hammers with shorter handles, but this one will probably be my go to hammer from now on.
