Sorry not trying to rub it in - just a friendly ribbing.

In all seriousness, I hope the microvascular surgeon has good news for you.

okay, I read it, re-read what you said and thought about it off & on for 2 hours then read it again.
This is only a sympathy reply because I didn't think of anything to say except you shouldn't talk to doctors or nurses about taking pain pills they didn't prescribe.

When I had shingles in May my doctor prescribed Gabapentin which she said was a specific for shingles pain. I took one of them that night.
I guess it could be specifically for shingles but all I remember is that numbed me into a zombie for about 18 hours.
I tried to eat supper before i went to bed & went to sleep in my chair 2 or 3 times. It ruined the entire next day too.
I felt so bad I was afraid to drive. I have 59 of them left (of 60).

Next time I saw her I told my doc I figured they must have a pretty good street value. She told me I shouldn't say things like that.

I hope you recover.

Honestly, I didn't expect to win at Lambeau. I did expect to put in a good showing. The first half was surreal. Even the Packers fans around me couldn't believe the HORRIBLE officiating that negated a Seahawks pick-six and further caused an ejection of the VICTIM of a face-mask penalty that should have been assessed on the Packers. After that, it was ugly until the last drive and then we settled for 3 to shut out the Packers at half-time. Like I said: surreal.

The second half went about as expected, with the usual Aaron Rodgers masterful use of the hard count and getting a snap during a substitution. We KNOW he does this, and we still let him do it. Blows my mind. We've proven that we don't know the meaning of the phrase: "We fixed the offensive line this year; we promise." Capped if off with another HORRIBLE non-call of Pass Interference that should have given us the ball at the 1 with four downs to put it in. We settled for 3 there, too. That's 11 points taken away by the referees, and even the Packers fans and ESPN (who hates the Seahawks) agreed. It should have been a tie game of teams both showing lots of weaknesses throughout the game. Surreal.

But you only quoted half of my football line. After all, the Patriots lost, and that was a stellar game.

For baseball, the Orioles have now lost five in a row, though to be fair, the middle three of that streak was to the Indians, still in their 19+ winning streak. Today's game was a highlight reel of disappointments. And one of these days, we'll buy one of the cool pitchers like everyone else has. I'd sure like to see it happen before all of our offensive talent goes somewhere else to get their pennant.

I love to talk about football and baseball. If there's enough interest in it, we can have a thread dedicated to each. That was pretty popular with another Nevada forum I used to frequent. I know my teams intimately, and most of the stuff about every team out there. I'm also a rules guru, I must admit.

I was going to wait to see what response I got before filling in the facts of the case, which they would have found irrelevant anyway. I've been prescribed LOTS of pain meds over the years. The vast majority of which I didn't take. I don't like them. If I'm just going to lie in bed, I don't mind being in pain, for the most part. But I'll be damned if I can ever find what I did with them when I actually do want one. So I took one of my FIL's that day. Big f'ing deal. And it was just best for all involved if the nurse didn't have those details. She had more important things to think about, and since I'm paying for her opinion, I'll give her the options to choose from.

Got the opinions from the experts today. These are the trauma docs at the county hospital. Of course, this meant a horrible waiting room environment to see them. Even with being 15 minutes early to my appointment, I had to wait 90 minutes to see him, seeing the dredge of society come and go, and having to listen to nothing but harpies on the TV.

BUT, the young doc saw me first and then came back with the old doc that confirmed they think the same thing. Looks like I bruised and "pissed off" (their words) the sensory nerve for that part of the hand. The recommend waiting several months to see if it gets better on its own before cutting me open.

And the Orioles finally won today. It's hard to believe we still have a serious shot at the AL Wild Card, but then, who doesn't?

Ironically, and all the docs say coincidentally, I've had serious jaw pain this week. I had to find the old pain pills again just to sleep a couple nights ago. My dentist saw me immediately the next morning and confirmed it's the jaw and not dental. He got me in THAT DAY to a jaw specialist on the other side of town. That guy says I tore the ligament, and it might repair itself or he can "scope it" and fix it, but has to wait for an MRI which will take days just to get scheduled. Meanwhile, he's got me started on steroids today and the pain is now bearable. Tonight will tell the tale as sleeping is the hardest part.

So I've now seen six MD's in the course of a week. My primary care doc charged me the $20 copay, the hand doc specifically said no charge for his visit and referral, and the trauma docs didn't charge me. My dentist didn't charge me anything, and the jaw doc didn't charge me anything, but I have another consult with him if I can ever get scheduled for the MRI. I guess my wife's union has pretty good insurance, when she has enough work for it to be active. We paid a lot of penalties to Obama because of all the months it wasn't, though.

What I take away from that, though, is that all these docs got me in and taken care of, and it's the friggin' MRI that I can't even get a phone call yet to even get on the waiting list.

I don't know what to think about your hand or your jaw pain but I do have some observations on the AL wild card race.
The way they are playing now, the Texas Rangers have pretty much eliminated themselves. The pitchers can't pitch, the hitters are not hitting and the defense isn't.
