It doesn't push on the shaft at all.. Depending on application depends on what adapters and yoke that gets used..

Ideally the stub shaft or axle shaft has been removed from the hub.. The big puller thing goes on the out board of the bearing assembly.. Or you can pull the hub with the adapter and it will usually pull the bearing assembly and then go back to separate out the hub from the bearing..

The main reason I bought this was to have more options vs my other kit which was mainly for Audi, BMW cars.. I have bent this one on ocassion..

the OTC one you can use power tools with and is fully warranteed.. The other one I have the warrantee is void if power tools are used.

Also the hydraulic part is nice.. Because now I can really bend shoot up..
