That's called golfing, isn't it? When I was a kid fixing up old frozen junkers to drive, my friend and I used a fence post and the same size golf club to free up a cylinder, that was before I learned the grease gun trick.

Good thing you tied down the block, or piston and block would be over there .

yes the one td-18 known as Dually has sledge hammer piston in one cylinder.

today i got the Curse of Reverse fired up with the used pistons and went for a drive dragging the tires to get things worked in. a little blow by which is ok because i just tapped a small hammer on the rings to almost loosen them up. i only need the cat to run for a bit to test a few things out so i can order parts.

after 30 years of use, i offically broke the Bar Starter today. i was doing a engine as we say "dry" because it had not sat soaking for 6 months. i had the Bar Starter with the 6 foot pipe on it, then the strap pulling down at the top of the pipe for about 20". then i would hit the wooden block on the piston and the Bar Starter would catch up to the pipe. i got the engine broke free then the Bar Starter broke. oh well, whipped up another one in 45 minutes and got the engine totally free spinning.
