Default Polaris Ranger Mods

Searched the net to find tie downs for the Ranger bed. They want $42 for a pair. NOT!!! Looked at the pics and decided I could make my own much cheaper. They lock i due to the 45 degree cuts on the lipe which offsets them in the hole on the bed.

Found some 1" pipe that fits in the hole on top of the side rail. Cut some pieces out on the band saw as a prototype. Found a 1/2" nut and a 1/2" bolt and a washer. drilled some holes for the bolt. Had the brazing tip on the torch so brazed them together just for the fun of it.

Tried it out and it works just fine. Shot some paint on it. Then sawed out more parts to make several more. I will weld them tomorrow with 6013 this time, as it is a lot faster.

Looks good Chris. Always good to keep in practice with all welding processes too!

Brazing has always been a favorite of mine so I keep in it from time to time. Tomorrow some left handed welding. Ought to be a challenge.

I am making 8 so $160 stays with me. I do have my eye on a large cut off saw so it is possible that there goes my savings.

That is a neat way of securing something; I will have to keep that in mind, as I may have a place to use that idea.

Nice job, and lots of self satisfaction in doing so I would think.

I was going to ask why you don't weld them? Show them installed in use when you get them finished. You can't beat the price. Good work.

Thanks. Probably tomorrow if everyone leaves me alone. Gkids were here the last two days so lots of time for them, not much for me. Hope to get them welded this PM and painted.
