Nice write up, just happens that I got $70 in gift cards for HF and I have been to the store three times and walked out empty handed ... looks like I might need to pay them a visit in the morning.

Thanks, Cracker & George; don't overlook the part about the replacement blades!

I'm going to bet they don't stock the blades in the local store, probably will need to just order the blades online.

Yes,
just order them from Beverly. They will always have them.

That will probably be my next move if the replacement blades fail.

Cutter, as it's been almost 10 years since your initial posting of your working with and the small changes made to the Shear, I was wondering if you've had any more troubles with it and/or have you made any necessary changes to it?

No, nothing new. It just sits there until once in a blue moon, I need to trim something.

While visiting my daughter in Fresno a few years ago I bought various HF tools. The throat less shear being one of them. Worth it's weight for sure.

The Chinese don't need our help.

We only import their crap because the typical American consumer will buy American if it's the same price, but Chinese if it's way cheaper. They make the equivalent of "American quality" for themselves and many other countries; and have for a long time. Heck, they probably only make the crap just for our market.

They didn't build Three Gorges Dam and the rest of their infrastructure with tools from Harbor Freight, nor from America (mostly.)

Edit: I didn't notice that was a post from ten years ago until I finished the thread. I may check and see if these shears are still available. Maybe in the last ten years they now come with those replacement blades from the start.

I had my reasons for bringing this back up, I need one and have never bought one. said sheepishly.

Cutting patterns at times could be of benefit.

HF does still carry it.

I see Grizzly carrying a bench mount single handle shear, but it's not throatless.
