I'm not trying to tell anyone what to do here, just want to post this story because it it sort of relevant.

Almost 10 years ago a co-worker of mine at my old job was working on a toppled oil platform scrapping project. Basically the scope of work was to cut this production platform that fell over during hurricane Katrina into manageable pieces and lift them to the surface to be scrapped. So he was prepping a tank steel tank that supposedly never held any petroleum products for underwater burning, which is very similar to an oxylance.

What he was trying to do was cut vent holes to keep the oxygen and hydrogen gasses which are byproducts of the cutting from forming large bubbles in the top of the tank, which will eventually explode. Typically these are cold cut to keep from igniting hydrocarbons. It was decided to use a grinder to open up some holes because before this incident grinding underwater was considered cold cutting, which I never understood because it still throws some sparks, just not nearly as much as out of the water.

Anyhow it lit the tank off and caused enough concussion, which it doesn't take much underwater, to kill him. So just be careful when doing things like this because you never know what kind of a can of worms you are going to open, and he left behind a wife of a few months and a daughter he didn't even know about because she was waiting to tell him in person when he got home from the job.
