Default Possible purchase this weekend

Looking at buying a welder, generator and a riding mower. Package deal. $750

Mower is a old Snapper Comet. Needs some work. Mainly with the blade drive.

Welder is a Lincoln Weldanpower 150. Works and welds good. Anyone on here have experience with these?

Generator is a big honking Onan 7500 watt unit. 2 cylinder gasoline power. Model 7.5JB-18R

Tries to spin over. Relay in voltage regulator box clicks.
Missing air cleaner. Data plate shows both singe and three phase outputs.

Welder $500
Generator $200
Mower $50

I'm most looking forward to the generator. I believe these Onan units are of good quality.

Anything I should look for on the generator?

Price parts on onan. Welden power ok. Total not bad price but anything Onan requires searching for and pay according.

The welder is AC, there are lots of broke ones in the world. Personally would look for something a bit better, the Weldanpower 210 is DC, so much better welding unit, in fact very good.

Part pricing and availability for Onan would be a concern for me.
That 3 cyl Yanmar has way better parts and pricing.

Gas Onan. I believe it has what is called the "tri-fuel" carb. Run off gasoline, NG or LPG. If I can direct wire a battery to the starter and it spins over I'll be more inclined to buy.

I did check inside the voltage regulator box and no burnt or damaged wires. I'll also check under the generator cover.

I need a tractor and bush hog more then a 60" mower. The Snapper just needs a replacement spring for the belt tensioner pulley.

I'd be interested in those Onan parts and the Yanmar diesel generator.

Carb kit for the Onan seems to be around $100. New regulator board $225

Not really a package "deal". I'd listen to others about the Onan, esp. Randy. I got a neighbor trying to sell one out of a gutted motorhome, thinks it's worth $1000--I told him he is about 3x over value and will never sell it especially since it hasn't run in years...

Welder is a fair unit if it runs, isn't it a gen, also? More around $300 value for that unless it comes with 200' of leads or something.

Unless you were in the Snapper parts biz and/or had a yard full of parts units and/or were thinking of becoming a "collector" (hoarder), then the Snapper would be considered scrap value: $5? I'm sure it has more value to someone else, perhaps... maybe $10?

As others have said those little gas Onans aren't worth much. I've got about 3-1/2 units sitting in a container in various states of disassembly. One is complete and supposedly a runner, one is supposedly a rebuilt short block. Haven't looked at them for a while so I have no idea what model they are but they're around 25 HP engines so they'd be a bit bigger than what you're looking at--likely 12-15 KW. You could have the lot for fifty bucks...

I've spent 20+ years accumulating 'projects'like the ones you describe. I've now spent the last 3 months dragging half of them to scrap, and flogging the other half to sell, sometimes for the same price I paid 15 years ago.

Generators are a funny thing. When they're needed, you want them to start and run reliably.

For the money you're looking, why not add to it and go new, or newer, portable welder and genny in one?

And if you need a tractor and rotary mower, skip that $50 antique and find/buy a tractor.

Time for a new signature line!!

The Weldanpower has a slip ring problem, no parts avail unless you want to
engineer your own.
