Default Stihl FS 76 Brush cutter.

Well as things are going around here right now. Everything is breaking. The
21 year old bike handle trimmer brush cutter took a shit while Shade Jr. was
operating it. Took it apart tonight after Shade Jr. and I got as far as we could
on the Cub Cadet.

Turns out the ignition module came loose, one of 2 attaching bolts came out
and the coil was rattleing against the flywheel. Ok, now I have to see if the
Stihl dealer can get me one....

A couple of weeks ago my Karcher/Honda power washer wouldn't start. No spark. The kill switch was okay. The coil was rusty. I ordered and installed a $12 coil from Amazon (cheapest I could find). It would then start and run fine for two minutes. First thought was "should have got a better coil". I googled the problem and found a couple posts describing the same problem. Cure was a new spark plug. I ordered and installed an NKG plug, Amazon again, not the cheapest. Now it starts and runs like new.

Stihl no longer supplies the part, but the gentleman at Shorewood Home and
Auto gave me the part number and said I might be able to get a Chinese one.
Amazon, $20 delivered.

Or a new one for $409 plus tax.

I think I will see how the Chinese one works first...

A guy comes in and is looking to buy a new chain saw, He knew he wanted a
MS 271. So while the sales guy is getting his saw I was chatting with him, I
sold him on 2 extra loops of chain a gallon of bar and chain oil and extra 2
stroke oil. Stihl brand. After he leaves the guy behind the counter asks me
if I want a job....

I just bought a MS 271 myself. I think I paid and extra $14 for six "treatments" of their 2 stroke oil, sized for mixing a gallon at a time, and it extends the saw warranty another year. No brainer there. I only wish they would sell the saws with only the power head. I already had the bars.

Repeat after me in a bad Chinese accent, "Oh, we fuck with round eye!"

The part was wrong.

So I repaired the old one, beat on it, ran a weld bead across the laminations.
filed to fit. Used Loctite 222 on the ignition bolts and set the air gap to 0.010"
Runs fine now.

What is so wonderful about the FS360 that they wand almost $1000 for it? I have about 1/2 acre cut out of my pasture by a ditch with steep banks that I need to whack. It ain't worth that kind of money.

Maybe the FS 91 is what I need at $370. The 360+ seem to be built for all day every day use. I need to stop by the dealer.
